How do Poles understand the concepts of feminism and feminist and how do they use these terms? Reconnaissance.
Goal: The concepts of feminism and feminist (men and women) belong to a group of terms which in the Polish language can be understood in various ways by users coming from different environments or social groups. These words can also be used with diverse intentions and for various purposes. The comparison of dictionary descriptions with the actual usage and functions of these concepts in the public discourse can provide interesting observations connected with word manipulation, using words for different purposes, values latent in the language and speakers’ intentions.
The text analysis, supported by the prepared working corpus on Korpusomat, helps to find preliminary answers to the question of how, with what intention and aim Poles use the terms feminism and feminist.
