Green sample preparation is sample preparation. It is not a new sub-discipline of sample preparation but a guiding principle towards sustainability. For this reason, we have created a permanent working group (WG4) that will continue promoting #GreenSamplePreparation. For more information on the activities of WG4 and the new Leaders (Professors C. Bendicho, V. Pino, M. Tobiszewski and L. Vidal), please visit our website. https://www.sampleprep.tuc.gr/en/working-groups/wg4-green-sample-preparation

Dear members,
The EuChemS Sample Preparation Study Group and Network supports the Special Issue to appear in Advances in Sample Preparation (Elsevier), entitled:
Sample Preparation Reviews
with Guest Editors our Members:
Gangfeng Ouyang
Stig Pedersen-Bjergaard
Deadline for manuscript submissions: May 1, 2022
Description:
Authoritative and critical reviews stimulate the dynamic growth of sample preparation. This special issue will collect such contributions as a service in support of our readership. Authors are asked to provide critical reviews so that they discuss the highlights and most important recent trends within the topic rather than simply summarize all available papers published on a topic. The open access feature of our journal will make this special review issue freely available to the public, accessible to readers without subscriptions.
This Special Issue invites high-quality reviews overviewing the latest advances in sample preparation.
Submission Instructions:
You are invited to submit your manuscript at any time before the submission deadline. For any inquiries about the appropriateness of contribution topics, please contact Dr. Stig Pedersen-Bjergaard via stig.pedersen-bjergaard@farmasi.uio.no.
The journal’s submission platform (Editorial Manager®) is now available for receiving submissions to this Special Issue. Please refer to the Guide for Authors to prepare your manuscript, and select the article type of “ReviewsSP” when submitting your manuscript online. Both the Guide for Authors and the submission portal could be found on the Journal Homepage here: https://www.journals.elsevier.com/advances-in-sample-preparation

Dear Members,
Each year we choose a theme that acts as a guide for planning our activities throughout the year.
The theme for 2022 will be: Interdisciplinary Sample Preparation
In 2022, we will break down the barriers and collaborate across science and engineering boundaries. Several activities will be organized aiming to transfer knowledge and integrate the processes, skills, and concepts from other disciplines into Sample Preparation. Our goal will be to create new knowledge interfaces that will not only provide a node for dialogue, but also facilitate the co-evolution of our priorities, intent, and actions. Interdisciplinary Sample Preparation will also be the theme of the 2ndEuropean Sample Preparation Conference (14-16 March 2022).
We have updated our logo and you can find it attached to this email.
Sincerely,
Professor Elia Psillakis, TUCrete, Greece
Head of EuChemS-DAC Sample Preparation Study Group and Network

The journal pledges its commitment to improving diversity on the editorial team, and in 2021 and 2022 we will be aiming to increase the proportion of currently underrepresented groups. This sits within Elsevier’s inclusion & diversity efforts. Equity and inclusion in publishing is critically important for scientific excellence and innovation. We believe passionately in the power of an inclusive publishing environment, not only to do what is right, but to enrich, strengthen and advance us all.

Current analytical practices suggest that sample preparation should be avoided or kept to a minimum. However, evidence shows that the most robust analytical results can be obtained if an appropriate sample preparation is introduced in the analytical procedure. The benefits of sample preparation include among others, less ionization suppression, less instrument maintenance, less matrix interference and more accurate results. This Special Issue aims to demonstrate the criticality of sample preparation by presenting latest advances of sample preparation in a wide range of analytical areas. Through these success stories, the need for sample preparation will be emphasized.
