Project

EXPERT - Off-the-shelf mRNA Nanomedicine

Goal: EXPERT aims at developing a new off-the-shelf delivery system for RNA-based nanomedicines to treat cancer and cardiovascular disease. In the long term, the platform technology could be used for improving diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients with several other diseases.

"Our vision is to complement existing clinical studies with mRNA therapeutics and to overcome some of the main obstacles mRNA-based therapy approaches are facing on their way to the market. The EXPERT approach could substantially lower the costs of such treatments enabling their use for more patients and different types of diseases."
Raymond Schiffelers EXPERT Coordinator

The EXPERT consortium comprises 11 international partners from The Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Hungary, Ireland, France, Germany, and Israel. On 24-25 October 2019, they all came together for the official project kick-off in Utrecht, Netherlands.
