EMEGS - Electro Magneto Encephalography Software

Goal: EMEGS (ElectroMagnetic EncaphaloGraphy Software) is an open source software for psychophysiological data analysis.

There are two versions available: the original MATLAB based package which requires the MATLAB environment and a stand-alone Qt based version.

Permutation-based statistical testing provides a straightforward way to solve the multiple comparisons problem (MCP) in EEG/MEG data (Maris & Oostenveld, 2007). However, the permutation of data in factorial experimental designs, traditionally analyzed by means of a repeated-measures ANOVA, requires the permutation to be performed on residualized data (Kherad-Pajouh & Renaud, 2014). In the latest version of EMEGS (Matlab based version 3.1), we provide tools to perform permutation-based identification of effect-clusters based on residualized data of complex ANOVA designs with up to 4 within and 3 between factors.
Analyses can be run for all residualization types in parallel or only for a selected residualization type of interest to reduce processing time.

EMEGS (electromagnetic encephalography software) is a MATLAB toolbox designed to provide novice as well as expert users in the field of neuroscience with a variety of functions to perform analysis of EEG and MEG data. The software consists of a set of graphical interfaces devoted to preprocessing, analysis, and visualization of electromagnetic data. Moreover, it can be extended using a plug-in interface. Here, an overview of the capabilities of the toolbox is provided, together with a simple tutorial for both a standard ERP analysis and a time-frequency analysis. Latest features and future directions of the software development are presented in the final section.
