Creative Leadership Development — Methodology & Pedagogy

Goal: In the Creative Leadership Development Research Program, we want to (a) introduce a comparatively new creative leadership development method (Genius Journey by the innovation company Thinkergy, http://thinkergy.com/methods/genius-journey/) and contrast it with other methods, (b) investigate the efficacy of both methodology and pedagogy of Genius Journey approach, and (c) investigate its impacts on creative leader candidates both in the short term and in the long term.

In this empirical paper, we investigate learners' qualitative feedback on the perceived effectiveness of the methodology and pedagogy of a comparatively new creative leader development program. The paper reports how prospective creative leaders appraise ex post the overall methodology, the chosen pedagogy, as well as the value of different pedagogical tools employed by the Genius Journey program. Part 1 discusses why organizations need to develop more creative leaders and why this requires training programs that are both effective and creative. The second part explores pertinent theories and suitable learning approaches in the current context of developing creative leaders. Part 3 summarizes our chosen research design and methodology. In part 4, we present the empirical findings on how learners qualitatively comment on the methodology and pedagogy of the Genius Journey. Finally, part 5 discusses the relevance of our findings for researchers, educators, and practitioners in the evolving domain of creative leadership.

In this empirical paper, we examine learners' experiences while undertaking a creative leadership development program. Our paper reports on how prospective creative leaders reflect ex post on the trials, challenges, transformational moments, learnings, and real-life takeaways of undergoing the "Genius Journey" program. Part 1 sets out the wider need to develop a sufficient number of creative leaders for the innovation economy and the importance of doing this both effectively and creatively. The second part briefly discusses suitable learning approaches and theories as these relate to the current context of developing creative leaders. Part 3 outlines our chosen research design and methodology. In part 4, we employ Campbell's (1949) Hero's Journey model to present the empirical findings on how learners' experienced the transformational methodology and pedagogy of Genius Journey. Finally, part 5 discusses how our findings may inspire researchers, educators, and practitioners in the evolving domain of creative leadership.

In this empirical paper, we examine the learners’ perspectives on a new development program in creative leadership. The paper reports on how the creative leader candidates assess ex post both the methodology and pedagogy employed by the “Genius Journey” program with regards to its efficacy and creativity. Part 1 sets out the wider need to develop a large number of creative leaders for the innovation economy, and the necessity to do this both effectively and creatively. Part 2 briefly discusses suitable learning approaches and theories as they relate to the current context of developing creative leaders. Part 3 outlines our chosen research design and methodology. In part 3, we detail out the empirical findings on the learners’ perceptions related to the efficacy of the Genius Journey method and its pedagogical delivery. The final part discusses how our findings may further enhance creative leadership development programs and inspire future research.
How can creative leaders effectively and creatively be developed using a structured training program? In this paper, I attempt to answer this question by introducing the design and underlying methodology and pedagogy of a creative leadership course taught to business professionals. The paper is structured into five parts. Part 1 establishes the need for both effective and creative training programs to develop authentic creative leaders for the innovation economy. Part 2 introduces the general structure and underlying methodology of the creative leadership development program. The third part describes in detail how the said course unfolds over time, thereby identifying its contents, special activities and assignments. Part 4 elaborates on attributes of the inherent pedagogy of the course. The concluding fifth part summarises the key benefits of the chosen course design, and draws up a future research program to investigate the efficacy and long-term impact of the chosen approach.
Genius Journey is a new creative leadership development method purposely designed to guide senior executives, managers and entrepreneurs on how to gradually transform themselves into an authen- tic creative leader in the innovation economy. I structure the paper into five parts. Part 1 establishes the need for an effective creative leadership devel- opment program. The second part reviews the literature on the emerging domain of creative leadership development and individual creativity enhancement. After briefly discussing the chosen research ap- proach for this paper in part 3, I explain the Genius Journey method in detail in the fourth part, thereby describing how its different methodological design features integrate into one elegant platform that en- ables candidates to acquire the differentiating success mindsets and action routines of a genuinely crea- tive leader slowly but surely. The final part discusses how the Genius Journey method may provide sup- port and inspiration for business practitioners and proposes future research directions.
