On the 17 June, we kicked off the research project ChainLog. Initially planned as an on-site event, we had to move to video conferencing. In total, over 20 representatives of the research institutions as well as of the partner companies, took part. We shortly introduced the project ChainLog and its goals. We then invited the participants for a discussion about the planned application database.
Specifically, we talked about potentially useful information about projects and the design of the website listing. We hope to design it in such a way that it will be helpful for SMEs. The results of the discussion have already been incorporated and can be seen here (German):
https://chainlog.de/datenbankDuring the project "ChainLog" we hope to identify possible applications potentials of the blockchain technology for SME from the logistics and supply chain management sector. One goal of the project is to create an opportunity for SMEs to familiarize themselves with the blockchain technology and to better assess the effects on their own business. A web-based knowledge tool for SMEs will be created with the intention to provide guidance on working with blockchain.
Currently, in the first phase of the project, we evaluate the possible fields and interview experts with SME and blockchain knowledge. In a second phase, these potential applications and needs will be evaluated, to become, in the third phase, part of the web application.
ChainLog is a joint project of the Institute of Logistics and Corporate Management of the Hamburg University of Technology and the Kühne Logistics University. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy within the framework of joint industrial research. The project started in December 2019 and runs until September 2021.
