The interaction between water-soluble zinc sulfide quantum dots (ZnS QDs) and selenite ion was investigated by photoluminescence method. The water-soluble ZnS QDs were synthesized using a simple and fast procedure based on the co-precipitation of nanoparticles in an aqueous solution in the presence of 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA), as the capping...

To investigate heteroatom-doped carbon nitride (C3N4) materials as supports, Au nanoparticles anchored on sulfur-doped carbon nitride nanosheets ([email protected]) was prepared and used as a catalyst for arsenic electroreduction. Novel SCNN was synthesized for the first time via a simple thermally induced copolymerization route using ammonium pers...
Chapter
Engineering conductive polymers (CPs) onto separation and extraction devices is a promising topic for future research in modern analytical chemistry. This chapter investigates current trends in the characteristics and uses of CPs in the separation stage of study. CPs can provide a variety of opportunities and possibilities for manufacturing novel s...
Chapter
Conductive polymers (CPs), also known as synthetic metals, have been the focus of enormous interest in the research community. In recent years, they have been used in myriad applications due to their intrinsic properties, including good electrical conductivity, flexibility, easy preparation, mechanical strength, biocompatibility, and low cost. Toda...
Chapter
Miniaturization is a general concept addressing the trend of manufacturing small and smaller mechanical, optical, and electronic products and devices. Today, this trend has gained a high interest of researchers of engineering, medicine, materials science, physics, chemistry, and computer science. An analytical process consists of six general steps...
Chapter
Spectroscopy methods, as the basic analytical instrumentation methods, are employed in different sciences. They have a wide range of applications in chemistry. Small spectrometers are divided into laboratory portable instruments, field analyzers, and process analyzers. Miniaturized spectroscopic instruments are one class of portable spectrometers....
Chapter
Recent advances in miniaturized sensing devices have led to the design of integrated analytical devices such as biosensors and sensors. Nowadays, miniaturized sensors are highly desired for real-time and fast-response measurements in clinical diagnostics. This chapter discusses different categories of lab-on-a-chip devices based on the application...
Chapter
Due to their superparamagnetism property as well as the high surface-to-volume ratios, magnetic nanomaterials (MNMs) have been utilized as both sorbents and sensors in analytical chemistry. Different aspects of the application of MNMs in analytical chemistry have widely been reviewed. However, the application of MNMs in the magnetic field sensors h...
Chapter
Today, the development of fast and reliable methods for providing quantitative information is an ongoing need in analytical chemistry. Taking advantage of both nanoscale size and magnetic manipulability, magnetic nanomaterials (MNMs) have found a wide range of applications in different fields from chemistry to biomedicine. MNMs also have been utili...

The fluorescence of ZnS quantum dots in colloidal water solution changes very slightly on addition of glutathione (GSH) but is strongly enhanced in the presence of Zn(II) even in concentrations as low as 10 μM. The resulting Zn(II)-enhanced fluorescence is found to be quenched by GSH. In contrast to GSH, cysteine does not cause an effect. Response...
