This study addresses the challenges of grid stability posed by the integration of renewable energy sources, focusing on regions, like Jeju Island, where overgeneration complicates energy management. We introduce a novel sensitivity-based control algorithm for Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) that optimizes the deployment of distributed energy resources...

Problems with overvoltage and reverse energy flow arise as the percentage of distribution energy resources (DERs) in distribution system rises. This paper implements a MATLAB/Simulink linked model that communicates with the OpenDSS engine. The point of common coupling (PCC) voltage typically mitigates using the inverter outputs control. However, ca...

This paper describes a methodology for implementing the state estimation and enhancing the accuracy in large-scale power systems that partially depend on variable renewable energy resources. To determine the actual states of electricity grids, including those of wind and solar power systems, the proposed state estimation method adopts a fast-decoup...

This paper proposes an advanced continuous voltage control method that implements multiple-point control to ensure peak power system performance. Most control schemes utilize generators to regulate the pilot point voltage of a control area. However, exact control of a single pilot point is difficult because of the influence of adjacent areas in a m...

In the existing distribution automation system, the database is managed by each distribution office. But there is a high possibility to happened a problem during a fault processing because the representation of the connection switches between distribution offices are complicated. In addition, if a distribution office will be going to collapse due t...

The importance of power system stability has been emphasized with an increase of wind energy penetration in the power system. Accordingly, the guarantee on various control capabilities, including active and reactive power control of wind farms, was regarded as the most important aspect for the connection to the grid. To control the wind farm active...

The paper analyzes reactive power flow characteristic in power system by reactive power tracing. In addition, virtual buses are inserted in the algorithm to consider losses of transmission lines, and shunt capacitor treated as a reactive power generator. The results of simulation are analyzed by two points of view. The one is load's point of view a...

This paper deals with shunt compensation to eliminate voltage violation and enhance transfer capability, which is motivated towards implementation in the Korean power system. The optimal shunt compensation algorithm has demonstrated its effectiveness in terms of voltage accuracy and reducing the number of actions of reactive power compensating devi...
Article
This paper deals with methodology to control an automatic substation system. The control system can predict the power system condition by a voltage stability index (VSI). The strategies in this paper is called as Voltage-Reactive Power Control (VRPC), which regulates an abnormal voltage of a target substation by using coordination between tap chang...
