In order to understand the essence and new dynamics of the USA for the management of the implementation of the agreements between Kosovo and Serbia, the new international geopolitical context that models the principles of American foreign policy for Europe in general and Eastern and South-Eastern Europe must first be elaborated, especially. So, we must go outside our political habitat to understand the complexity of international politics because depending on what happens in international politics, it directly affects our domestic politics.

The fundamental international problem today is security. Security precisely means protection from an external nuclear attack by the Russian Federation, as well as protection from internal penetrations of Russian intelligence services to intensify divergences in relations with states within the European area of ​​interest in open conflicts that would clearly weaken the front of Ukrainian resistance due to the escalation of conflicts and the allocation of resources for their management. In other words, the danger from the Russian Federation has dictated the determination of American diplomacy, so to speak, to force Turkey to accept Sweden in NATO; two states which have traditionally been, to put it mildly, at enmity because of the Kurdish issue, as well as because of civilizational clashes (the burning of the Koran in Sweden). Do not forget that we are talking about the second military power in NATO (Turkey), which, pushed by the Americans, has accepted painful compromises analyzed in terms of their national interest, such as the acceptance of Sweden in the Western military alliance. Or, ending, even temporarily, the divergences between Macedonia and Bulgaria; between Albania and Greece; between the Baltic states, etc...etc...So, currently what is happening in the Western world is the unification between states to strengthen internal cohesion due to the security aspect. The security paradigm wins over every ethical and moral consideration, even in some cases, even over democracy as a universal value. Analyzed from this perspective, we see today in our region how autocratic (Serbia) and semi-autocratic leaders, with contested legitimacy, remain in power and are accepted as partners by Western countries. And, this should not surprise us because traditionally in world political history, when alliances are faced with an open possibility of war, they have overcome any divergence between them to focus on the security aspect. Security means existence. Without existence you have no state, nation, democracy, and nothing else. If you saw security, then you start thinking about other things. Therefore, as long as Putin continues to place nuclear warheads on the borders of NATO member states, we must understand that the international pressure to overcome the divergences between the states of this region will strengthen. And all that countries and societies like ours can do is align with the Western world.
