The change of inland lake area has a great impact on human life, ecological environment and animal and plant habitats. But, the systematic and quantitative research on the long time change of water area and its human activity and climate change causes is very difficult. Here, taking the largest and youngest natural inland freshwater lake Hongjian N...

As an important surface water resource that can be directly used, water bodies (WBs) have a non-negligible impact on human life, production and maintaining ecological balance. Over the past few decades, how many WB have changed to different degrees due to climate change, dam construction and other factors? Using the high-resolution WB mask dataset...

Water bodies play a vital part of the ecosystem services and human society. In recent decades, global water bodies have undergone drastic changes, including those in the Yangtze River Basin (YRB), the densest freshwater lake group in East Asia. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive description of the pattern of the dynamic changes of thes...

Mastering the spatial and temporal differences of ENSO (EI Niño-Southern Oscillation) and MJO (Madden–Julian Oscillation) and their influence on drought is very important for accurately monitoring and forecasting drought. In this study, spatiotemporal characteristics and variability of the impact of ENSO and MJO on drought were analyzed from the pe...

Machine learning has been successfully used for object recognition within images. Due to the complexity of the spectrum and texture of construction and demolition waste (C&DW), it is difficult to construct an automatic identification method for C&DW based on machine learning and remote sensing data sources. Machine learning includes many types of a...

Particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 µm (PM2.5) has a significant impact on air pollution, atmospheric visibility, and human health. The most basic and important step of regional air pollution control is to obtain air pollution data in different seasons from both satellite sensors and ground-level observations. The aim of this paper...

The combined study of vegetation coverage (VC) and land use change provides important scientific guidance for the restoration and protection of arid regions. Taking Hongjian Nur (HJN) Lake in the desert region as a case study, the VC of this area was calculated using a normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), which is based on a mixed pixel d...
