Introduction
Yi Leaf Zhang is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. Zhang's research interests have been guided by the overarching theme of understanding student college choice, mobility, and success in higher education, particularly in the context of community college and international education. Her research agenda is primarily organized under three interrelated strands:
1) Community colleges as gateways to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education,
2) Diversity and complexity among transfer students, and
3) International education in both community colleges and 4-year universities
