Este proyecto se propone explorar sistemáticamente el tipo de actor visibilizado en la prensa política de elite. Más específicamente, la relación entre las características del sistema político chileno y la visibilidad mediática de los actores en esta prensa. De acuerdo a esto, el proyecto se planteó objetivos específicos como indagar de qué manera algunas características del sistema político se traducen en la mayor o menor visibilidad de determinados actores por sobre otros en las páginas de la prensa política nacional. Asimismo, nos proponemos identificar si los actores políticos visibilizados por la prensa de elite son asociados a determinadas temáticas de acuerdo a sus funciones, género y afiliaciones partidarias. El proyecto se propone explorar los espacios de comunicación de la élite política debido a su centralidad para la articulación del proceso político, en el entendido de que la prensa de elite, se erigió –particularmente durante el proceso de transición a la democracia- como un espacio de comunicación donde se definía el mapa de aquello que es políticamente relevante al interior de este circuito, con consecuencias para la sociedad en su conjunto. Al poner el acento en la visibilidad de actores buscamos identificar y problematizar quienes han tenido voz en la configuración del espacio político-comunicacional al interior de la elite en el periodo post-autoritario.
