Project
The project entitled “Decarbonization of the energy sector in Poland - a threat or an opportunity for Poland’s security?” is an attempt to answer the question of how decarbonization is executed and whether the process presents any threats for the energy sector. Currently, Polish energy sector is facing a difficult challenge - dynamic redevelopment towards cleaner and safer energy. Eliminating the coal or reducing its consumption is highly desirable (especially bearing in mind the EU strategy to be climate-neutral by 2050) however, from the economic and social point of view, it might pose a threat to the energy stability of the state. Polish energy sector is still dominated by the high consumption of coal in the production of electricity which presents a danger to the natural environment. This is one of the reasons why a shift towards cleaner energy is so welcome and this is also what decarbonization is needed for - it is a process which aims to reduce (or eliminate) the emission of greenhouse gases. The main aim of the project is to create theoretical and actual models of decarbonization of Poland’s energy sector. The models are supposed to focus on legal, technical/technological and political aspects. Such an approach will help in understanding the changes in the Polish energy sector and will gather information about legal, technical and political possibilities of decarbonization in Poland. The results of the project will form a benchmark for further research into Polish decarbonization.

The project subject are Serbian-Croatian political relations, mainly after 1991. In the author's opinion, the 1990s and the first decade of the XXI century are three different periods in Serbian and Croatian politics. The first stage from 1991 to 1995 was a period of civil war in Yugoslavia, broken relationships, and political hostility. Next from 1996 to 2000 was a period of conflict deceleration, limited relationships, and political animosity. The third from 2001-2015 was a period of political and economic transformation, attemp at rebuilding relationships, and political neutrality. The political events that took place in the specified periods are influential in shaping the modern Serbian-Croatian relations. An explanation of the outlined phenomenon is a fundamental objective of the undertaken project.
