Vanilla andamanica was described by Rolfe based on the material collected by Parkinson from Andaman Islands. On scrutiny a wide range of characters were found overlapping with Vanilla albida which is well known from Andaman Islands. Detailed study revealed that V. andamanica is conspecific with V. albida and has been reduced here as a synonym.
