Substituting constituents within concrete with lower impact materials is of utmost importance for the sustainable transition of the concrete industry. Systematic analyses of knowledge within the published literature can facilitate industrial practice and focus research inquiry. To address the prohibitive workload of manual review and the multifacet...

Cement production contributes to >6% of global greenhouse gas emissions, driven by clinker’s energy-intensive production and limestone calcination. Replacing clinker with alternative substitutes is an effective decarbonization strategy. However, typical clinker substitutes—coal fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag—face current and futur...

Cement production contributes to over 6% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, driven by clinker’s energy-intensive production and limestone calcination. Substituting clinker with cementitious substitutes is an effective strategy for decarbonization. However, typical clinker substitutes—coal fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag—face...

Consolidating published research on aluminum alloys into insights about microstructure–property relationships can simplify and reduce the costs involved in alloy design. One critical design consideration for many heat-treatable alloys deriving superior properties from precipitation are phases as key microstructure constituents because they can have...

In this paper, we present MatKG, a knowledge graph in materials science that offers a repository of entities and relationships extracted from scientific literature. Using advanced natural language processing techniques, MatKG includes an array of entities, including materials, properties, applications, characterization and synthesis methods, descri...

This paper introduces MatKG, a novel graph database of key concepts in material science spanning the traditional material-structure-property-processing paradigm. MatKG is autonomously generated through transformer-based, large language models and generates pseudo ontological schema through statistical co-occurrence mapping. At present, MatKG contai...

Although scientific journals stand as a reliable peer-reviewed source of data, it is often too tedious to manually extract relevant information from papers. This could be attributed to the unstructured data such as images, text, captions, and non-standard reporting of data in tables. Here, using natural language processing (NLP), we introduce a cor...

Due to their excellent optical properties, glasses are used for various applications ranging from smartphone screens to telescopes. Developing compositions with tailored Abbe number (Vd) and refractive index at 587.6 nm (nd), two crucial optical properties, is a major challenge. To this extent, machine learning (ML) approaches have been successfull...

Data-driven synthesis planning with machine learning is a key step in the design and discovery of novel inorganic compounds with desirable properties. Inorganic materials synthesis is often guided by chemists' prior knowledge and experience, built upon experimental trial-and-error that is both time and resource consuming. Recent developments in nat...

Most of the knowledge in materials science literature is in the form of unstructured data such as text and images. Here, we present a framework employing natural language processing, which automates text and image comprehension and precision knowledge extraction from inorganic glasses’ literature. The abstracts are automatically categorized using l...

Glasses have been an integral part of human life for more than 2000 years. Despite several years of research and analysis, some fundamental and practical questions on glasses still remain unanswered. While most of the earlier approaches were based on (i) expert knowledge and intuition, (ii) Edisonian trial and error, or (iii) physics‐driven modelin...

Male infertility is a common and severe problem affecting 7% of population. The main objective of this study is to identify the chromosomal abnormalities, Y microdeletions in infertile men and also to access the frequency of abnormal sperm count. Based on the sperm count and viability, the infertile men were grouped as Azoospermia, Asthenospermia,...

This paper demonstrates the application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools to explore large libraries of documents and to correlate heuristic associations between text descriptions in figure captions with interpretations of images and figures. The use of visualization tools based on NLP methods permits one to quickly assess the extent of th...

Lead-free Mn-doped (K0.5, Na 0.5)NbO3 (KNN) thin films were fabricated by the chemical solution deposition method. The addition of small concentration of Mn dopant effectively reduced the leakage current density and enhanced the piezoelectric properties of the films. The leakage current density of 0.5 mol. % Mn-doped KNN film showed the lowest valu...

SrLa2Mg2W2O12 and Sr2La2MgW2O12 ceramics were prepared by the conventional solid-state ceramic route and their dielectric properties were investigated in the radio and microwave frequency regions. SrLa2Mg2W2O12 sintered at 1500 degrees C has epsilon(r)=25.2, Q(u) x f=15 900 GHz (at 4.9 GHz), and tau(f)=0 ppm/degrees C. Sr2La2MgW2O12 sintered at 152...

Question
I have been trying to optimize Cr/Au electrodes (e-beam evaporation) for PZT capacitors. However, the hysteresis loop is very leaky and not the right shape (rectangular - tetragonal PZT) as compared to sputtered platinum electrodes on the same film. Has anyone used Cr/Au electrodes before? Is there any paper that has studied the effect of electrodes on PZT thin film capacitors?
Question
If there is no data on BST, BT might also do. Is there a good hand book or resource to get these values?
Question
I'm trying to model electric field distribution in conical parallel plate capacitors - these are not cylindrical in shape, but the top electrode is smaller in area than then bottom electrode (in the shape of a truncated cone). I'm trying to see if analytical models exist for these distributions. If you know any such studies (or in general about non cylindrical capacitors), please refer me to them.
Question
I would like to process a particular thin film material on an Si wafer at 900 C but I am not able to find a suitable bottom electrode system that can successfully survive this temperature range. Can anyone give any ideas or suggestions?
The usual Pt-Ti-Si system degrades due to stress development in Pt and subsequent Hillock formation. I have tried Pt -Al2O3-Si and Pt on an aluminum substrate. But none of these seem to work..
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
