This chapter looks at the way in which biology can be mobilized in social, cultural or ethical debates. A scientific ideology constitutes a stepping‐stone, laying the metaphorical foundation for an emerging science; this discourse will be extreme and strongly marked by its social and political context. One might describe eugenics as a discourse and...

A number of individuals began to define themselves as “philosophers of biology”, breaking away somewhat from a more general philosophy of science to focus on the concepts, theories and methods involved in contemporary biology. The standard and neopositivist concept of laws in the philosophy of science presumes that laws are both universal and empir...

This chapter focuses on genetics, its history and the philosophical problems that it raises. The separation of development and heredity was a particularly slow process, and was only fully established with the emergence of genetics in the early 19th Century. It is interesting to note that the use of the term “genetics” to denote the Mendelian study...

There are two main aspects to the Darwinian theory of evolution. The first aspect–descent with modification–stipulates that species descend from one another and undergo modification; this is a pattern‐type theory.

The objective is to understand the resilience processes of small producers, organic farms during Covid-19 pandemic. We propose to collect and analyze the parameters that may have influenced these processes. Methodology The study will address the issue from a psycho-socio-technical-economic-ecological interdisciplinary approach. Data collection will be done through an immersive approach. The field study will collect data from producers of the French network "Fermes d 'Avenir" along a north-south route .. The researcher will meet the farmers on foot, for 30 days, to be as close as possible to the working and living conditions of the farmers.
