Introduction
I am currently studying the effect of deuterated water (deuterium oxide) on growth and division related processes in microalgae. Our goal is to describe how deuterium affects cell cycle progression in model microalgae dividing by multiple fission, e.g. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, Desmodesmus quadricauda or Parachlorella kessleri. Moreover, we aim to understand the mechanisms of stress response induced by high deuterium concentrations.
