The multi-centre trainee-led collaborative research model improves the generalizability of results, efficiency of data collection, quality of data and sample size. Although an enormous amount of effort and resources are sometimes required, the final results lead to a standard that is unachievable by conventional studies. In this article, we summari...

Background: The mechanism of injury (MoI) for a patellar dislocation has not been fully established. The aim of this study was to use systematic video analysis to determine the MoI of a patella dislocation. Methods: A systematic search was conducted of three video sharing websites and three popular search engines to identify videos demonstrating...

Background: Patellar dislocations are a significant injury with the potential for long term problems. Little work has been done on establishing the mechanism by which this injury occurs. Objectives: To determine the mechanism of injury of a patella dislocation based on the available published literature and compare them to already proposed theor...

Introduction The reconstruction of large acetabular defects in revision hip arthroplasty represents a challenge to the surgeon and increases the complexity of the case. There are different options to overcome the problem of acetabular deficiency. In the elderly low demand patients, the main objective of revision surgery is to provide pain relief, a...

Introduction: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is an operation used to treat patients with medial compartment knee osteoarthritis. The United Kingdom Knee Osteotomy Registry (UKKOR) has been set up to gather contemporaneous data on HTO throughout the patient journey. UKKOR uses a variety of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) to gauge the surgica...

Background: Templating for preoperative planning of joint arthroplasty has followed the evolution of digital templating software. Objective: This study aims to provide a safe, reliable and reproducible method for prediction of acetabular component size based on measurement of the radiographic femoral head diameter, with the aid of templating sof...

Introduction The Google Trends search engine provides an insight into the search habits of individuals using the Google search engine. Usage of such data can provide us with information about the incidence of medical condition that are otherwise hard to track as patients do not always seek medical attention. An example of this is injuries to the kn...

Aim. Our study aimed to determine prognostic factors for survival and recurrence in myxofibrosarcomas based on the experience of a single institution. Methods. Patients who had been diagnosed with a myxofibrosarcoma were identified from our database. Survival and recurrence were evaluated with Kaplan Meier survival curves for univariate and cox reg...

Trans-sphenoidal pituitary resection is possible via the traditional microscopic trans-septal approach or newer endoscopic transnasal approach. There is little in the literature to describe the nasal complications of the endonasal microscopic resection of pituitary lesions. We describe our experience of a single surgeon series and specifically the...

Mycotic aneurysms have a high mortality rate, predominantly driven by sepsis. We present a 61-year-old patient who was treated with a hybrid open-endovascular repair using autologous femoral vein as a single channel revascularization. This provided a practical and innovative approach to a high-risk situation.
