Introduction
I am currently working on my PhD about parenting capacity in mothers with severe mental illness. In this study a newly developed structured observational procedure, the Infant Caregiving Assessment Scales, is being evaluated. The INCAS is a comprehensive measure in which instrumental and emotional caregiving skills are encompassed. Besides parenting capacity, this study focuses on infant-mother interaction, infant development, and the (development of) the stress response system in mothers and infants. Research Interests - Maternal psychopathology and the relation to parenting and infant caregiving - Development of mother-infant interaction and attachment in the first year of life - Assessment and diagnostics within mother-infant dyads

This review examines the association between alcohol and illicit drug use and the perpetration of intimate partner violence (IPV) and child maltreatment (CM). Background Maternal psychopathology during pregnancy is associated with negative outcomes in offspring. Increased placental transfer of maternal cortisol may contribute to mediate this association. Hair cortisol concentrations (HCCs) appear to be a good bio-marker of long-term prenatal stress exposure. Little is known about the associations betwee...

Background. Maternal psychopathology is associated with altered HPA axis functioning in offspring.
