Dr. Costantino's research (the Blue Chemistry Lab) focuses on exploring the unique natural products of marine sponges and cyanobacteria as lead compound for pharmacological applications. These chemically prolific organisms are sources of numerous highly unusual metabolites, and the The Blue Chemistry Lab has been involved in their discovery and evaluation in the areas of cancer, inflammation, and infectious disease.
