Our current research focuses on how mammalian cell growth and cell cycle are regulated by the transcription factor LSF, and how dysregulation of LSF activity drives oncogenesis, particularly of liver cancer. We have developed small molecule inhibitors of LSF that are highly promising for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a prevalent cancer worldwide with poor prognosis. HCC demonstrates oncogene addiction to LSF, as demonstrated by these inhibitors.
