Introduction
I am entomologist, focusing on aquatic insects. I am currently working on Dragonflies and Damselflies, especially, larval stage. My main interests are systematics a with a particular interest both molecular and morphology. I also work on bioassessment using benthic macroinvertebrates in Thailand.

A new species of the genus Anax, A. aurantiacus, is described and illustrated based
on adults of both sexes and exuviae from Thailand. This new species was previously considered
by several authors to be a form of A. immaculifrons Rambur, 1842, but was never officially
described. Anax aurantiacus sp. nov. is differentiated from A. immaculifrons base...
Podolestes pandanus Wilson & Reels, 2001, is recorded for the Vietnamese fauna and
the occurrence of Risiophlebia guentheri Kosterin, 2015 in the Central Highlands of Vietnam
is confirmed.
The larval characters of the genus Indocnemis Laidlaw, 1917 are described based on larval specimens of I. orang (Förster in Laidlaw, 1907) from Thailand. The larvae are characterized by 5-6 pairs of premental setae, 8-9 palpal setae of the same length, and vertical lamella caudal gills. The habitats and new provincial records of I. orang in Thailan...
Vestalis gracilis (Rambur, 1842) is a forest stream damselfly belonging to the family Calopterygidae. Its last-stadium larvae and exuviae are described and illustrated based on laboratory-raised specimens from Thailand, and observations of agonistic behavior are provided. The taxonomical characters of V. gracilis larvae are similar to those of V. a...
The damselfly genus Bayadera Selys, 1853 comprises 17 species, but the larvae of only four species have been described.
Here we describe the final stadium larva of another species—Bayadera serrata Davies & Yang, 1996. Larvae were
collected from a headwater stream at Nam Nao National Park, Phetchabun Province, Thailand. The larva of B. serrata
is di...
The orthotyline plant bug genus Zanchius Distant, 1904 is taxonomically reviewed from Vietnam for the first time with the description of a new species, Zanchius tuehang Kim & Jung, sp. nov. Detailed descriptions and diagnoses of the species are provided, along with a key to the Vietnamese Zanchius species, supported by illustrations and photographs...
The final instar larva of Anotogaster klossi Fraser, 1919 is described and illustrated, based on reared specimens from Vietnam. The larva of A. klossi differs from its congeners in several morphological characteristics, including the manner of ligula, number of premental setae, and the presence of lateral spines on abdominal segments. A comparison...
Floresorchestia has been recorded from the South African coast throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific and Caribbean seas. Platorchestia exhibits a distribution along the coastlines of the Atlantic Ocean and has been documented in the Baltic and Mediterranean seas, North America, Bermuda, and South Africa; however, it has not been recorded in Southeas...
This paper provides the first annotated catalogue of the plant bug subfamily Mirinae (Heteroptera: Miridae) from Vietnam. A total of four tribes, 30 genera, and 39 species are recognized and catalogued. For each species, brief information is provided on its distribution, host plant and dorsal habitus.
Prodasineura sangkhla sp. nov. is described from the Takhian Thong waterfall near the Thai-Myanmar border, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. It differs from all other species of Prodasineura Cowley, 1934 by the combination of the characters including white pruinescence on prothorax, synthorax and some parts of legs, blue markings on S10 and anal app...
The final instar larva of the rare species Platycnemis phasmovolans Hämäläinen, 2003 is described and illustrated here for the first time, including a new distribution record from Vietnam. The larva of P. phasmovolans differs from that of congeneric species by distinct morphological features, including the presence of four setae on the palpal lobe...
The final stadium larva of the Cryptophaea vietnamensis (van Tol & Rozendaal, 1995) from Vietnam is described and illustrated based on specimens reared to adulthood. This is the first record of a larva of the genus Cryptophaea Hämäläinen, 2003. The larvae of C. vietnamensis are seldom encountered, but where present they may co-occur with larvae of...
The final stadium larvae of Argiocnemis rubescens rubeola are described in the present study. The adult–larva association along with the taxonomic remarks on the subfamily Agriocneminae, is established by employing the cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene (COI). The larva is characterized by the ovate shape of the caudal lamella, the lack of a band on...
The final instar larva of the genus Dysphaea Selys, 1853 is described and figured for the first time based on specimens of
D. gloriosa Fraser, 1938 from Khao Yai National Park, Thailand. The larvae of D. gloriosa are very rarely encountered.
The larvae are characterized by the relatively larger head, the swollen heavily spined genae extending well...
The final stadium larva of Anisopleura furcata Selys, 1891 is described and illustrated. The larva can be separated from all known Anisopleura Selys, 1853 larvae by the following characters: the profusion of elongated tubercles on the labrum and antefrons, the presence of a long bifid spur on the outer margin of the mandibles, presence of a row of...
The first representative of the genus Cerapus in the Gulf of Thailand, Cerapus rivulus sp. nov., is described from specimens sampled from Mae Klong Estuary, the inner Gulf of Thailand. The main identifying characteristics of this new amphipod species are pere-onites 1 and 2 without constriction; male gnathopod propodus palm transverse with long pos...
The diversity and distribution of dragonflies and damselflies were investigated at Khao Yai National Park (KYNP) during January 2019 – March 2022. Adults and larvae of 78 species were collected from 26 sampling sites including lotic and lentic habitats. The updated odonate checklist of KYNP and adjacent areas brings the total number of species from...
The larva of Heliogomphus chaoi Karube, 2004 and the adult female of Microgomphus jurzitzai Karube, 2000 are
described from Vietnam for the first time. The morphological difference between the larvae of the genera Heliogomphus
Laidlaw, 1922 and Microgomphus Selys, 1858 are discussed, which throws doubts about the current taxonomic status of
H. retr...
Two new species of Floresorchestia (Crustacea: Amphipoda) are described from Amphawa Estuary, Samut Songkhram Province, Thailand. Floresorchestia amphawaensis sp. nov. is a riparian-hoppers living near agricultural and urban areas, being distinguished by the following character states: left mandible lacinia mobilis 4-dentate; gnathopod 2 palm reach...
During a scientific survey, a new genus of driftwood hopper was found in mangrove roots in Ko Kut District, Trat Province, Thailand. We placed this new genus, Thailandorchestia gen. nov. , within the family Protorchestiidae. The new genus can be distinguished from the remaining genera by uropod 1 outer ramus with robust setae, uropod 2 outer ramus...
Within the damselfly subfamily Platycnemidinae, eight species are currently recognized in South-East Asia. The final stadium larvae of only three of them have been so far described. The final stadium larva of Copera chantaburii is described and illustrated for the first time, based on reared specimens, and new provincial records both of larvae and...
The larva of Agriocnemis minima Selys, 1879 is described and illustrated for the first time, based on reared specimens collected from Thailand. Selected larvae of Agrioncnemis Selys, 1877 were matched with their adults by DNA barcoding. The mitochondrial COI gene (658 bp) of three species (A. minima, A. femina femina (Brauer, 1868), and A. pygmaea...
Herein the final instar larva of Pseudagrion pruinosum (Burmeister, 1839) is described and illustrated for the first time, based on reared specimens from Thailand. When compared with the other known Pseudagrion larvae, P. pruinosum is distinguished by three setae on the labial palp, five teeth on the truncate, denticulate lobe on the distal margina...
