In the paper, we present the tips service and water diary, which are the modules of the mobile decision support system (DSS) for the efficient water usage at households. This system is a part of the Integrated Support System for Efficient Water Usage and resources management (ISS-EWATUS). The DSS at the household level is aimed at provoking the usa...
As the water resource is becoming scarce, conservation of water has a high priority around the globe, study on water management and conservation becomes an important research problem. People are increasingly becoming more individual households, which tend to be less efficient, requiring more resources per capita than larger households. In order to...
Information technology has become an integral part of municipal water distribution systems (WDS). Various types of sensors, e.g., smart water meters, usually work in real-time mode delivering a huge amount of data. Big data must be stored in appropriate databases. Along with the development of data mining tools, the analysis of big data is very imp...
The authors show the real life application of an expert system using queries submitted by the user using natural language. The system is based on polish language. The two stage process (involving data preparation and the inference itself) is proposed in order to complete the inference.
The authors propose the incompleteness factor (IF) method to improve the effectiveness of browsing in knowledge bases with missing data. The paper explains the whole method, which is based on certainty factors and cluster analysis. The experiments’ results conducted to obtain optimal parameters for the algorithm are presented. The evaluation is mad...
The authors propose to use cluster analysis techniques (particularly clustering) to speed-up the process of finding rules to be activated in complex decision support systems with incomplete knowledge. The authors also wish to inference within such decision support systems using rules, of which premises are not fully covered by the facts. The AHC or...
In this paper, we intend to introduce the conception of discovering the knowledge about rules saved in large rule-based knowledge bases, both generated automatically and acquired from human experts in the classical way. This paper presents a preliminary study of a new project in which we are going to join the two approaches: the hierarchical decomp...
Authors propose a new approach in the optimization of inference processes in decision support systems with incomplete knowledge. The idea is based on clustering large set of rules from knowledge bases as long as it is necessary to find a relevant rule as quickly as possible. This work is highly focused on the results of experiments regarding the in...
Projects
Project (1)
The proposed project is an interdisciplinary effort of specialists from water management and ICT research respectively to develop an intelligent Integrated Support System for Efficient WATer USage and resources management (ISS-EWATUS). The project will develop several innovative ICT methods aiming to exploit the untapped water-saving potential in EU. The overall goal will be achieved by developing an innovative, multi-factor system capable to optimise water management and reduce water usage.
