Detailed aspects of discovery, identification, systematics, ecology, maintenance, and reproductive biology of the still undescribed Apistogramma sp. "Mitu" from the Colombian Rio Vaupés-system are presented. Sneaking and brood defence behaviour has been observed in males of the species. Life colouration is documented by 36 photographs included.
