Stenus ampliventris J. Sahlberg, 1890 was recorded in the forest area Schorfheide, Brandenburg, Germany. This record supports the synonymisation of Stenus wagneri L. Benick, 1917 by Puthz (1991). The beetle is illustrated and all known German collection sites are reviewed.
