Description
- The Eurasian Working Group of NABU (German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union) is a dedicated team working vuluntarily within NABU focused on conserving and protecting the natural heritage in Central Asia. The working group actively engages in initiatives and projects aimed at preserving the biodiversity, ecosystems, and natural habitats. The comunity based protection of the saiga antelope, establishment of new proteced areas and UNESCO World Heritage Nominations have been in the focus.

The impact of the border fence on the Goitered Gazelle (Gazella subgutterosa) has been investigated along the southern border of Kazakhstan (opposite of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) in spring 2021. The findings are alarming, because the border fence does hinder the animal in its annual migrations and mitigation measures are urgently needed.
