Previous studies on romanticism and comparative Romanticism did not consider criticizing the action in Romantic plays using Greimas’ model. The study specifically analyzed the action in the two tragedies - Hugo’s Hernani and Goethe’s Faust. This paper interprets the significances of romantic periods as presented in both plays through the analysis o...

Question
More and more relationships are collapsing in this 21st century due to the fact that women are becoming more and more romantic. They struggle for freedom from the past world dominated by men. In some traditional Korean films, certain women experience tragedy due to the fact that they are masculine women who found themselves in patriarchal world. Question
Every romantic dreams of freedom, innovation, adventures, desires and impossibilities. If being romantic is being radical like English romantics -John Keats, Lord Byron and William Wordsworth- or being freedom fighters in literary world of French romantics such as Victor Hugo, Alfred de Musset and Chateaubriand , then the constant factor before one can talk of romantic context is social constraints from classical system derived from culture, religion and tradition. A romantic struggle against this social obstacle through his literary works.
Question
These three literary concepts are interwoven. Critics often use them interchangeably. sometime one refers play as theater and as drama. A play can be in written form or staged. When it is a book, the meaning play is restricted, when it is staged, the name theater is better. A tragedy a literary genre in drama while the latter is one of the three major literary genres of literature. A paper is being written in French to clarify in details these often confusing concepts.
Question
I am a critic in Literary comparative studies and I observed that one need to set some parameters for comparison. One can use a theory to dissect the two plays, novels or poems. One can examine a concept in the same genre or different genres addressing the same issue. There must be criteria for the selection of the works for criticism. It is unfair to compare two works without considering many background factors. My interest now it to compare Funmilayo Kuti with her son Fela Kuti so as to examine their contribution to social change in Nigeria.
