Introduction: In December 2019, COVID-19 introduced challenges in healthcare & highlighted the need for rapid collaboration, research, and interventions. International research collaborations can respond to rapid global changes by enabling international, multicenter research, lowering bias, and increasing study validity while reducing research time...
BACKGROUND: Digitization of healthcare data has led to widespread healthcare transformation. This has been enhanced by availability of new technologies, at lower costs. Video recording has been shown to improve quality of care, provider skills, education and patient follow-up. Limitations such as risk of litigation, patient privacy, and poor legal...

This study aimed at determining the social factors affecting adoption of mHealth products, examining the technical factors affecting adoption of mHealth products and determining the individual factors affecting...
We designed and implemented the inaugural Fundamentals in Vascular Surgery course in Kenya, held over two days in September 2024. This course represents the first step in establishing a low-cost, sustainable, vascular training program.
Introduction:-
Sub-Saharan Africa is experiencing an epidemiological transition from infectious diseases to non-communicable diseases. The burden of vascular disease is increasing; many patients present with advanced disease with non-healing ulcers or gangrene attributed to limited access to specialised care. Recently, vascular surgery has been es...
Introduction:
Hernias following iliac bone grafting are a rare but significant complication, with the earliest case reported in 1945. Repairing these hernias is challenging. Appropriate repair techniques are needed to minimise morbidity and recurrence. We present our experience with three cases of post-iliac graft hernia repair with mesh anchored...
Background and Purpose: Kenya and other low-income countries face healthcare challenges such as affordability, access, and health worker shortages. Digital technologies have disrupted traditional service delivery in industries such as banking and retail. Significant changes have not yet affected healthcare. Technological advancements in healthcare...

In December 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need for rapid collaboration, research, and interventions. International research collaborations foster more significant responses to rapid global changes by enabling international, multicentre research, decreasing biases, and increasing study validity while reducing overal...
This study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of hernia repair using mesh compared to other types of repair in patients who developed hernia as a consequence of iliac bone grafting. The primary outcome of interest is the recurrence of hernia, with secondary outcomes including other complications.

Introduction:
Teamwork is important in surgery due to the high risk nature of procedures undertaken and low room for error allowed. Surgical outcomes are dependent on the technical and non-technical skills (leadership, communication, decision making, team co-ordination, assertiveness) of the surgeon. It has been estimated that surgical adverse even...
Introduction
About 30% of the global disease burden is considered amendable to surgery yet the role of surgical care in public health planning is largely underrepresented. Measures need to be put in place to improve quality, access and safety of surgical care. Key recommendations to accelerate improvement of surgical care by the Lancet commission o...

Introduction:
It is estimated that trauma will contribute up to 20% of global disease burden by 2020. There is little information on acquisition of basic surgical services in low income settings. We sought to describe the different modes of payment and populations with increased medical need in a surgical ward in Embu PGH.

We report a case presentation of a male with GCT of the middle phalanx of the 1st digit in the right hand. He was successfully operated with r...
Background: Wilms’ tumor/Nephroblastoma is the most common primary renal tumor of childhood. Its incidence is highest in Sub-Saharan Africa. Extrarenal Wilms tumor (EWT) is however a much rarer condition than its counterpart. In the female genital tract, we were only able to find 16 reported cases (6 adults, 10 children). We present a case of Uteri...
