Introduction
Terry Irwin is a Professor and the Head of the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University. She has been a practicing designer for more than 40 years. Her research is in the area of Transition Design, a new area of design research, study and practice that argues for societal transitions to more sustainable long-term futures via intention, systems-level change. She has also studied Goethean Science as a way to evolve design process. Terry was a co-founder of the international design firm MetaDesign, which had offices in Berlin, San Francisco, London and Zürich.
