This article examines the rise of cash transfer programs and their embrace, since the 1990s, as a central element in global public policy on economic and social development and poverty reduction. Focusing on the example of Mozambique, an early adopter of such programs, it analyses the relationship between international organizations, development ai...
In the past several decades, various actors have sought to promote peace in the periphery, their actions framed by the dominant logics of global interventionism. Amongst these, former colonial powers, such as Portugal, have intervened in spaces that were once under its colonial yoke and where long and complex processes of violence have occurred. Th...
Peacebuilding has become a guiding principle of international intervention in the periphery since its inclusion in the Agenda for Peace of the United Nations in 1992. The aim of creating the conditions for a self-sustaining peace in order to prevent a return to armed conflict is, however, far from easy or consensual. The conception of liberal peace...

O empenho na promocao ativa da resolucao desses conflitos foi, no entanto, revelando grave...
Historically established as critical knowledge and thus an alternative to normal science in International Relations, Peace Studies came to be co-opted, in the 1990s, by the regulatory structures of the international system as a cornerstone of many of the options put into practice especially in post-war reconstruction processes. In this context, rec...
Portuguese Foreign Policy : Europeanism, Atlanticism or Both ?
The downfall of the authoritarian regime in 1974 induced fundamental changes in the dynamics of Portuguese foreign policy. It was not simply a transition from authoritarianism to democracy, but also a major changeover from an Atlanticist orientation towards European integration. Previou...
