It has been agreed upon, according to critical perspective, to distinguish the problems raised by scientific issues on the one hand and the problems raised by moral issues on the other. This distinction, at the genesis of theoretical ideology, postulates that experimental science is mere knowledge which, since it has nothing to do with action, cann...
The relation of words to objects is a key issue in the history of logic, especially after the analytic turn as initiated by Frege (Sinn und Bedeutung). It can be said that almost all the great philosophers of logic from Frege to Kripke had to deal with the issue of the sense / reference relation. A reference is basically the relation of one linguis...
The set of criticisms leveled at the public sphere and its relation with rational discussion are also of a certain interest for those who, in the media age, question the information and communication society, sometimes identified as a “new public sphere”. The public sphere is a concept that Habermas situates at the point of development of philosoph...
The main challenge of technology is to facilitate the tasks and to transfer the functions that are usually performed by the humans to the non-humans. However, the pervasion of machines in everyday life requires that the non-humans are increasingly closer in their abilities to the ordinary thought, action and behaviour of the humans. This view merge...
The distinction of the Analytic and the Synthetic as well as the problem of the a priori synthetic judgment are an important topic in modern history of philosophy and logic. In Kant's Critique, the analytic is associated with the a priori and the synthetic with the a posteriori, and the distinction between the two is linked to the criteria of neces...
The 2011 Japanese disaster often presented as a ‘new Chernobyl’ accumulated the effects of earthquake, tsunami and of the subsequent nuclear accident at Fukushima. In the light of this disaster, we review methodological rea- sons both from geophysical and philosophical perspectives that lead the scientific and technological communities to flawed co...
The 2011 Japanese disaster often presented as a ‘new Chernobyl’ accumulated the effects of earthquake, tsunami and of the subsequent nuclear accident at Fukushima. In the light of this disaster, we review methodological reasons both from geophysical and philosophical perspectives that lead the scientific and technological communities to flawed conc...
In Ways of Worldmaking, Goodman examined the various ways of making worlds by comparing the activity of science with that of art. It is however regrettable that he did not regard the activity of engineering, thus viewed as a kind of technical art, as a genuine way of worldmaking. Engineering not only deals with the design and the production of tech...
The elaboration of some paradigms of governance lies upon the opposition between the democratic and the non-democratic, namely, as will be shown and defined, the technocratic (skilled-based power), the ethocratic (virtue-based power), and the epistocratic (wisdom-based power). The point in this opposition is that, contrary to the democratic paradig...

The more integrated technology becomes in our everyday lives and businesses, the more vital it grows that its applications are utilized in an ethical and appropriate way. Ethical Governance of Emerging Technologies Development combines multiple perspectives on ethical backgrounds, theories, and management approaches when implementing new technologi...
Proceduralism has been a major philosophical stream that gathers some outstanding philosophers, such as John Rawls or Jürgen Habermas. The general idea of proceduralism, especially in the practical domains of morals, law and communication, comes from the need to provide some rational justifications to the rules, actions and decisions to be adopted...
Radioactive waste, remaining radioactive for very long periods up to hundreds of thousands years, introduces a new time dimension never experimented in the field of risk management. This situation led for more than 10 years, to reflections on the societal and organisational mechanisms for the development of protection systems, able to cope with tho...
One of the main problems of a contemporary ethics of technology and of the institutional structures of democratic governance enabling it to be implemented is the lack of an adequate ethics of collective action. More precisely there is a need for a ethics of co-responsibility - as opposed to an ethics of the individual role responsibility - in the f...
Radioactive waste introduces a new time dimension in the field of risk management. This is why, for more than 10 years, there have been reflections on the societal and organisational mechanisms allowing a responsible management over the long term of the risk associated with radioactive waste. These reflections lead one to ask questions regarding in...

1 ) dedicated to the governance of radioactive waste management, the issues of "long term governance" have been addressed by exploring the elements which can contribute to a better integration of the technical and societal time dimensions, taking into account technical, ethical, economic and organizational considerations. The originality of this pr...
