The objective of this qualitative study is to provide a current and systematic overview of available standards in the field of project management. The research project applies the approach of Design Science Research (DSR). The artefact developed by the research project contributes to problem analysis by illustrating which standards are currently or...

The innovation gender gap proclaims a female underrepresentation in innovation, mostly measured by patent filing focusing on knowledge-intense industries. That approach neglects service industries with stronger female entrepreneurship, such as tourism. Gender and the type of industry are suggested to influence how innovation is defined and designed...

Conference Paper
Open innovation is a common form of innovation activities in tourism. However, the design of the participation of multiple stakeholders in these activities is challenging. The present research develops a framework for describing participation in innovation activities in tourism to help address this challenge. The research process follows the method...

Networks and ecosystems are involved in Open Innovation (OI) initiatives, their collaboration mediated by technology. A central element of OI is the generation of value as perceived by involved actors. The paper investigates how information systems supporting collaboration (CIS) facilitate the generation of perceived value for OI participants. As m...

Open Innovation (OI) research has covered various organizational forms in dimensions of durability (permanent versus temporary organizing) and organizational scope (intra-or inter-organizational). Inter-organizational forms-both temporary and permanent-are regarded mainly as modes of OI. However, these organizational forms also act as initiators of...

Innovation as a response strategy to a crisis needs further understanding for small enterprises. This exploratory research investigates if, why, and with whom entrepreneurs in micro and small enterprises engage in innovation activities during the atypical context of the COVID-19 crisis in the tourism sector. The multiple case study with three Germa...

With a growing interest in the application of gamification in tourist attractions, there is a growing body of research on various types of effects resulting from providing gamified e-guides to visitors. In this paper, we take a different perspective on the substantiation of gamification application in museums by investigating whether the mere avail...
Chapter

The chapter explores the use of an Open Innovation approach in three case studies involved in an interorganizational, international project. Interorganizational projects (IOPs) are becoming more usual as a temporary form of work. Using external knowledge sources for innovation processes in such IOPs adds further complexity. In the case studies, thr...

The tourism industry with mainly small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is strongly influenced by digitalization, though, confronting the actors with challenges. As network management organizations facilitate cross-cutting themes across their network, digitalization could be assumed to be one of them. In a case study approach this paper investig...

Communication management is one of the key project management areas and at the same time one of the most difficult to control and execute properly, as it involves various aspects, numerous tools and methods and is largely dependent on the human factor and soft skills of the project manager and team members. Project-based activities are very common...

Question
In my study data, I have matched pairs (same persons with two different observation points (pre/post test)), measured on a 5 point Likert scale which I consider ordinal. I intend to use the Wilcoxon signed rank test to analyse differences, yet there are two questions I found no clear answer yet in the literature that I consulted so far:
1) Effect size r
I’m confused about the effect size calculation with r = Z/squareroot N. In the literature, I find varying definitions of N (assuming I have 10 pairs, 2 have a difference of 0 between pre and post test, thus are eliminated):
- Amount of pairs (in the example = 10)
- Amount of pairs minus those pairs that have a difference of 0 (in the example = 8)
- Amount of observations ((in the example = 20)
What is your view?
2) Constructs/Items
In the case of Likert scales, can I sum the results for the items (observed variables) to compare at the level of constructs (latent variable)? Or how should I perform the test on the level of the constructs?
Thank you so much for your advice!
Susanne
Question
I'm looking for research on the impelementation of Connectivist Massive Open Online Courses (cMOOCs), especially: operation models, activity elements, technical platforms, success criteria e.g. critical mass of participants needed, content needs, motivation tools for knowledge contributors, roles ...
- Can you recommend any research on cMOOCs?
- Can you share own experience with them?
- In your view, how does the concept differ from communities of practice?
Thanks a lot for all your input!
Susanne
