There has been rise in rare autoimmune neurological disorder ( GBS) in Pune , with suspicion of causative agents like campylobacter and Noro virus with suspicion on food and water borne mode of transmission. What should be the preventive and management aspects that may be focussed in current scenario?
Quarantine is followed forchickenpox for 21 days for Close contacts.
However, Mumps having variable incubation period and shows iceberg phenomenon. With the cases being reported among adults nowadays, should we consider quarantine for mumps ( for 4 weeks , literature suggests max incubation period for mumps), in scenario especially if case occurred in crowded place like hostel. Any Suggestions and other preventive measures besides Disinfection, isolation, ventilation and avoidance of overcrowding?
It has been seen that in Gujarat , india 12 recent deaths have been reported with onset of heavy rainfall and flood like situation. Cases had fever and pneumonitis like symptoms. However, the lab profile including important infections like malaria , dengue , H1N1 negative . What should be further approach in present situation?
Mpox has been declared as PHEIC. However the trend of disease reveals cases in children in congo region only. The other parts of globe has seen cases in High risk group like Homosexuals, Adults with STDs etc which signifies High efficient sexual than respiratory route. Other interesting fact being low Secondary attack rate and very less CFR (less than 1%) . The only exception being Congo region with little high CFR (3%) . The reasons may be children in the region having less immunity due to malnutrition, close proximity to forest ateas and vectors like squirrels and other co-infections . Also limited health care resources may be the other reason. The possible solution may be sentinel surveillance of high risk groups and Risk communication to mitigate and undue panic in the community. Any other further suggestions?
