Introduction
I'm an archaeologist in Canada, currently located in southern British Columbia. I graduated with a Master of Arts degree from the University of Toronto in 2017. I started my PhD at the University of Alberta in 2020, and am researching the use of archaeology and pseudoarchaeology by far-right North American conspiritual groups and individuals. My research is primarily focused on Brother XII and the Aquarian Foundation, a 1920s conspiritual organization in British Columbia.

Heritage (and by extension, archaeology) is an important part of the Star Wars universe. Both the Jedi and the Sith share teachings revolving around sites and artifacts important to their heritage and identities, and archaeologists like Dr. Chelli Aphra have played important roles in the development and maintenance of such heritage. However, the po...

Pop culture can be a powerful medium for sharing archaeology and inspiring interest in our field. But what happens when that archaeological information being shared is incorrect? What happens when it’s not archaeology being shared, but rather pseudoarchaeology? This presentation aims to explore those questions, using two comic series – Lost City Ex...

This commentary debunks the poor scholarship in Repatriation and Erasing the Past by Elizabeth Weiss and James Springer. We show that modern bioarchaeological practice with Indigenous remains places ethics, partnership, and collaboration at the fore and that the authors’ misconstructed dichotomous fallacy between “objective science” and Indigenous...

In May 2015, a disturbed burial was uncovered in Garden Bay, British Columbia, within close proximity to the large shíshálh village site of Sexwamin (DjSa-3). Found in association with the burial were 244 intact smooth, unadorned mold-blown (SUMB) glass beads and 40 SUMB glass bead fragments. Due to their extremely fragile nature, blown glass beads...

Thesis
In May 2015, a disturbed, partial burial was uncovered during excavation for a small construction project in Garden Bay, British Columbia, only 50 m north of the known shíshálh village site of Sexwamin (DjSa-3). This presentation reported preliminary results of excavations conducted in SW British Columbia between 2015 and 2017, which uncovered glass beads in a style (moulded, blown-glass) never previously uncovered in British Columbia, never reported in Canada, and known from only 3 other sites in North America.
Presentation
This presentation reported on two cases of rare bipartite coracoids observed in two archaeological individuals uncovered in SW British Columbia. This presentation speculated on the possible causes for the bipartite coracoids, such as congenital variations and accidental and intentional trauma. Though finding two women with the same rare condition f...
