Introduction

Symplectic geometry is an even dimensional geometry. In its simplest possible case it is the geometry of the plane R^2 and offers a minimal apparatus for treating planar vectors. The standard inner product together with an orthogonal (tilde) operator is the symplectic inner product. Both products can be assigned a parallelogram area. So symplectic geometry is a pure areal type of geometry. It is basically coordinate- and trigonometry-free.
