Nowadays total hip arthroplasty (THA) is one of the most successful surgical procedures in the world and the number of procedures performed is growing every year. However, its success largely depends on the absence of postoperative complications. Among the risk factors affecting the occurrence of postoperative complications are smoking, alcohol abu...
BACKGROUND
Today, biological fixation of uncemented press-fit acetabular components plays an
important role in total hip arthroplasty. Long-term stable fixation of these
implants depends on the osseointegration of the acetabular cup bone tissue into
the acetabular cup implant, and their ability to withstand functional loads.
AIM
To compare the stre...

PD is the loss of structural bone or fracture that separates completely the superior (ilium) from the inferior pelvis (ischiopubic segment) through the anterior and posterior columns of the acetabulum [1, 2]. It is a rare complication that ranges between 1 and 8% in revision THA series. Patients at risk are women, patients suffering from RA, and th...
Please check if the hierarchy of the heading levels are presented correctly.
The true acetabulum may be shallow with full contact with the femoral head or partly connected with a false acetabulum or severely small, shallow and triangular with complete loss of congruency with femoral head [5].
In the primary hip arthroplasty, the metaphyseal fixation type stems have proved to be very useful, allowing the stability of the fixation and the diaphyseal section of the femur to remain stable for future revision surgeries. However, with the increase in the defect of bone tissue as a result of trauma, it becomes necessary to use the stems of a s...
Coxarthrosis is an actual problem of modern health care due to the high prevalence of this pathology, the diversity of its etiologic factors, chronicity and the lack of effectiveness of conservative treatment, which in most cases results in the total joint replacement. This article, based on our medical practice and the guidelines of the European S...
Among the metallic materials, porous tantalum attracts growing attention of orthopedics and traumatologists. The purpose of the study is to investigate osseointegration by using a porous tantalum implants in rats with normal bone health and osteoporosis simulated background.
Methods:the study was performed in 18 laboratory rats weighing 250–350 g...
For the evaluation of patients with coxarthrosis (CA), who recommended for hip replacement, it is necessary to apply comprehensive approach for the study of the functional state of organs and body systems, including the use of biochemical markers of mineral, protein and lipid metabolism. Objective: t o conduct a survey of patients with post-traumat...
Joint arthroplasty is the most effective surgery in the orthopedic practice, that significantly improves quality of life in patients with hip and knee joint diseases with the different etiology. Hence, any surgery has complication, one of the most severe is a periprosthetic infection (PPI). Clinical polymorphism and nonspecific diagnostic tests de...
