The everyday use of the Internet is constantly growing. It makes everyday tasks easier and faster to do, but with great benefits come the risks of cyberattacks. In modern manufacturing systems and under Industry 4.0, Web-based solutions are often used to interface manufacturing process monitoring, management, and supply-chain communication. One of...
Wireless networks, including IEEE 802.11-based or Wi-Fi networks, are inexpensive and easy to install and therefore serve as useful connectivity alternatives in areas lacking wired-network infrastructure. However, IEEE 802.11 networks may not always provide the seamless connectivity and minimal throughput required for Industry 4.0 communications be...
The availability of information and communication (IC) resources is a growing problem caused by the increase in the number of users, IC services, and the capacity constraints. IC resources need to be available to legitimate users at the required time. The availability is of crucial importance in IC environments such as smart city, autonomous vehicl...
Informing the users about their environment is of extreme importance for their full and independent functioning in the traffic system. Today’s development of technology provides the user the access to information about their environment by using the smartphone device at any moment if there is a defined applicative solution. For this, it is necessar...
The Industry 4.0 is experiencing significant challenges, including the need for an increased amount of data transmission with improved security, transparency and credibility. The 5th Generation Mobile Network (5G) and Blockchain are innovative emerging technologies that can respond to these needs. 5G will enable extremely large channel capacities a...
Mobile phones are recognized as a primary platform for mitigating the digital divide and increasing economic growth, and the same appears to be true for Nigeria, the largest economy in Africa. Since 2012, mobile phone penetration has shown nearly linear growth, reaching 83% in 2016. However, this statistic falls to only 46% after correcting for own...
With the development and application of modern information and communication equipment and services (ICES), global society has undergone significant development and progress in everyday life. Along with the positive, negative aspects of their usage have evolved. One of the problems is the new sources of driver distraction, which ultimately results...
This paper presents a model for defining the behavioural patterns of smartphone users when offloading data from mobile to Wi-Fi networks. The model was generated through analysis of individual characteristics of 298 smartphone users, based on data collected via online survey as well as the amount of data offloaded from mobile to Wi-Fi networks as m...
Technological development has resulted in the possibility of implementing a large number of telematics systems and subsystems within the vehicle. Their purpose is to collect data through a number of sensors on the state of the vehicle as well as its environment. The result of the collected data processing is information that can be used to increase...
Detection of DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) traffic is of great importance for the availability protection of services and other information and communication resources. The research presented in this paper shows the application of artificial neural networks in the development of detection and classification model for three types of DDoS atta...
Applications become platforms of digital future as they easily integrate information and communication technology (ICT) based innovations and dominate on a mobile market. Smartphone applications are social, marketing and technological phenomenon and therefore the area of research is wide and includes different characteristics. Application lifecycle...
Within this paper, a conducted survey analyses the knowledge on the term of the use of personal device in the corporate environment and employee awareness of security issues that arise with introducing BYOD trend in business. BYOD represents a risk to business, usually present as the risk of data theft, unauthorized access to applications and syste...
Smartphone users generate data traffic using mobile and Wi-Fi access networks. The development of smartphones and the evolution of access networks has changed the behavior of smartphone users in generating data traffic. Data traffic offload is defined as a switch from the mobile to the Wi-Fi access network. Smartphone users offload large amounts of...
Detection of DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) traffic is of great importance for the availability protection of services and other information and communication resources. The research presented in this paper shows the application of artificial neural networks in the development of detection and classification model for three types of DDoS atta...
Since 2009, the Croatian mobile market has been subject to various negative influences, including the economic crisis and a 6% telecommunication tax on mobile operator gross revenues. This paper took advantage of this tumultuous period to explore the effects of quality change on monthly price of cell phone plans in Croatia during 2009–2013. We used...
Smartphones are used to access a wide range of different information and communication services and perform functions based on data transfer. A number of subscription contracts for smartphones is rapidly increasing, and the development of mobile communications network provides higher speed of data transfer. The continuous increase in the average am...
Smartphones are generating the increasing amount of data traffic and have a growing share in the total amount of data traffic. End users usually are not aware of the various factors which affect the amount of data traffic of a smartphone. Above mentioned shows the differences of the amounts of data traffic generated by the smartphone users. Insight...
The problem of the availability and the distribution of bicycles of the traffic models based on conventional stations can be addressed through the introduction of information services based on location. Tracking the location and the movement of each bike can provide better availability of services to the public bike system. The introduction of such...
Smart mobile devices (smartphones) represent an important factor in access to information and communications networks. The wide population of users with different demands is using smart mobile devices in many contexts. The context of use of smart mobile devices represents a joint impact of smart mobile devices and mobile applications, used informat...
The concept of Internet of Things (IoT) is based on a layered architecture. Each of the layers includes the application of a range of diverse technologies for the data transmission, processing and storage. This paper will explore the vulnerabilities and threats in IoT environment and protection methods that can be implemented within such an environ...
The methods of measuring driving behaviour and the quality of drive in road transport are important factors in data acquisition and subsequent analysis of driving. The prevalence of smart terminal devices and cost effectiveness of On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) sensor devices provide great potential and the availability of the aforementioned technologi...
For the premium calculation and billing process in the motor insurance, current billing models are very general and not optimally tailored for the end users. Important parameters such as mileage, driving behavior and types of roads driven are not considered for the premium calculation. Development of advanced information and communication systems,...
Internet of Things (IoT) as a concept can be considered as a continuation of the Internet evolution. IoT can serve as an infrastructure foundation for the development and delivery of new services in the transport system, based on the principle of ITS. The purpose of this paper is to show the increasing role of the IoT concept, its future use in the...
Mobile terminal devices in a BYOD model are representing the vulnerability for organization’s information
infrastructure. Storage and processing of business data within the device, which is not under the control of the organization, can have negative consequences for its sensitive information, and
control of such devices can compromise users' priva...
Broadband Internet access involves transfer of large data at high speeds, and at the same time the proliferation of new services. Rural areas, for a number of particularities such as the population size, geographical dispersion and lack of commercial attractiveness are often areas of limited availability of broadband access. This paper presents the...
Eco-driving is a set of driving techniques which lead to a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. According to different authors, the use of eco-driving can reduce fuel consumption of 5% to 30%. Modern information and communication technologies can provide support to the driver by giving an insight into the parameters of driving (average...

Smartphones represent a relevant factor in accessing information and communication networks. The number of new ICT services and applications is continually growing. A wide population of users having different user demands is using smartphones in their everyday life.
The key objective of this research is to analyze possible scenarios of smartphone usage and the usage of related ICT services depending on the different smartphone user groups.
Main predicted costs are related to development of the supervisory measurement system made of sets of smartphone devices and applications for tracking user’s behavior, and the application for processing collected data.
The expected scientific contribution is the establishment of the new model for identification of user’s behavior and prediction of user’s future behavior. This model will contribute to the development of human potentials and to better equipment of devices according to the specific user needs.
