Introduction
I am currently part of the Brno Lab of Intergroup Processes research team, based at the Institute of Psychology at the Czech Academy of Sciences. I work as a full-time Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology at Ostrava University. I also work as the executive editor for the university's journal Psychology and its contexts (Psychologie a její kontexty). The central area of my interest is the potential of indirect contact to reduce prejudice against stigmatized minorities.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of an intervention using indirect intergroup contact for improving intergroup attitudes in schools, in particular anti-Roma prejudice. Peer stories about intergroup relations may be an effective tool for prejudice reduction (Liebkind et al., 2014). In this paper we analyze discussions about a real story of a Roma boy. We work with qualitative data from 14 classes from 7 Slovak elementary schools. Pupils tried to find a solution of the problem situation described in the story, wher...
A discussion about the role of schools in preventing extremism and building tolerant intergroup attitudes is
currently ongoing in Slovakia. The first objective of this study was to map (through document and secondary
data analysis) how the topic of intergroup relations is defined in school curricula and how teachers are preparedto deal with this is...
Stigmatisation of various sexual minorities is not a new phenomenon, as well as last century´s attempts to reduce the existing stigma or prejudice. Not only in the past (Allport, 1954), but also nowadays (Pettigrew & Tropp, 2006) attention is focused mainly on attitudes towards ethnic minorities or handicapped individuals. Despite increasing openne...
Research has provided evidence that the effects of intergroup contact on prejudice reduction are not limited to the outgroup one has contact with (primary outgroup). Rather, they extend to secondary outgroups uninvolved in the contact situation (secondary transfer effect; Pettigrew, 2009, Social Psychology, 40, 55). We aimed to provide the first em...

The primary aim is to determine theoretical scope and bases to understand the perception of the family by a child in residential care and the child raised by biological family. The authors created research p...
The aim of this article is to draw attention to the fact that the constructions of gender - frequently quantified in scientific research (and practice)—are unstable across time and space. In this regard, we look at the genesis of the measures and definitions reflective of the social change and knowledge that has shaped views on the gender dimension...
The paper analyses social representations of Roma and refugees during refugee crisis in autumn 2015, based on data from continuous free associations gathered in Slovak high school students (n=80) and from 2 focus groups with Slovak University students (n=19). The analysis draws on Image theory in political psychology (Alexander et al., 2005), the S...
The paper draws on contact hypothesis in social psychology (Allport, 1954; Pettigrew & Tropp, 2006), according to which direct contact is one of the most effective prejudice reduction tools. The paper focuses on high school teachers´ constructions of ethnic diversity in their schools and on its consequences for intergroup relations. 22 qualitative...
The aim of this paper is to analyse discursive constructions of experience from imagined intergroup contact with members of two different outgroups. In the experimental condition, the students of a Bratislava highschool were asked to imagine a positive and cooperative interaction with a new Roma (N=23) or Muslim classmate (N=22). In the control gro...

The project main objectives are as follows: 1. To experimentally test, in randomized controlled trials, the effect of three types of interventions (based on direct, vicarious and imagined contact) on reducing explicit and implicit prejudice against members of the Roma minority in Slovak schools. 2. To test the effect of the interventions on discriminatory behaviour.
