B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.

My primary area of research is marine spatial ecology, with particular focus on the application of landscape ecology concepts and tools to marine ecosystems. A central theme of my research has been the influence of spatial structure on the patterning of marine animal diversity, distribution and movement across multiple spatial scales. Recently, I have focused on predictive mapping using machine learning algorithms and GIS to map the distribution of marine organisms for marine spatial planning.
