Introduction
The main research interests for my academic platform include Pathology and Molecular Virology (particularly viral evolution, viral genetics and structural biology including X-ray crystallography and Cryo-EM) for a better understanding of viral pathogenesis and host-viral dynamics. Over the last 10 years of combined teaching in Pathology and Ph.D. research on the genetic and structural biology of circoviruses, I have conducted field and laboratory-based research spanning several study systems. I am currently engaged with the development of a viable vaccine against beak and feather disease virus (BFDV) in response to the enormous threat that it imposes to the critically endangered avian species like Orange-bellied parrots. I am also keen to work on novel pathogen detection and viromics.
