Collecting construction equipment information such as the site equipment enter and exit date-time, driver’s name, type, and quantity is essential in construction management. Most construction projects use paper to record the equipment access history. However, manual recording is always labour-intensive and time-consuming. Therefore, this research a...
As the cost to use industrial robots decrease, their application in modular construction has garnered attention in recent years. Studies have been conducted to implement the robot arm in modular home construction. However, a collision avoidance method for the prefabrication process has rarely been discussed. Therefore, this research proposes a coll...

With the advancement of computational power and data storage technology, the increasing amount of data makes the issue of data management difficult to address. Management of a massive amount of data by utilizing chatbots to play the roles of...
Global collaboration is the major trend in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry; training in global engineering collaboration thus is highly demanded in existing engineering education. One approach to this training is to expose students to sufficient experiences, such as having them participating in a global project-based course...
This research developed a keyword-based chatbot system, Ask Diana, for water-related disaster management. Disaster management has been considered difficult and tedious due to the complex characteristics of disaster-related data. Most disaster responses require manual processing to eliminate errors, which is currently handled by the government. Although this process ensures quality of the information, considerable time delays occur. With the rapid development of the Internet and mobile devices, crowd-based platforms have been developed and used for disaster responses. Howev...
Site layout planning is a crucial task for enhancing the safety and efficiency of a construction project. However, the locations and the number of on-site objects change constantly during construction. Hence, dynamic site layout planning is difficult without a real-time data acquisition method. Therefore, in this research, we develop a method to ra...

Background
The effective 3D manipulation, comprehension, and control of 3D objects on computers are well-established lasting problems, which include a display aspect, a control aspect, and a spatial coupling between control input and visual output aspect, which is a debatable issue. Most existing control interfaces are located in front of the displ...
This research focuses on a long-standing, yet critical problem in the erection of steel structures. In the current state of practice, steel workers must stand on an unfinished structure to assist with the assembly of structural elements manually. They must pull on the wire hanging under the rigging elements to align the bolting holes of the moving...
The throw-and-roll method of temporary pothole patching, which is mostly accomplished manually, is to fill packing material into the depression on pavement. However, to determine the required filling volume to patch every individual pothole depends on the workers’ experience. The inappropriate patching may cause potential danger to the traffic. For...
Flow velocity is one of the key factors in hydrology. Considering workers on-site safety, non-contact methods have become the major approach for flow velocity measurement. Although particle image velocimetry (PIV) is a primary non-contact approach, which has been developed and improved since 1991, hydraulics experts are still required to be involve...
