I'm a Philosophy PhD candidate at the University of Birmingham working on Intentionality and Artificial Minds.

Project (1)
One reason given to reject the possibility of artificial minds is that artefacts will forever lack original intentionality. The aim of my PhD is to analyse intentionality across its levels of use; the types of explanatory work it performs and the basic distinctions it provides for mental phenomena. This analysis is then put to work to answer questions about the possibility of artificial minds. In particular, I aim to address arguments that deny the possibility of artificial minds on the grounds they lack biological intentionality.
