Alavian is a professor of medicine and hepatologist, he established the first hepatitis clinic in 1995, at the Iranian Blood Transfusion Service in Tehran, and he is one of the founders of the Iranian Charity for Liver Support in Tehran, established in 1995. He is editor-in-chief of Hepat Mon J.
