Consumers increasingly require customized products, which demands manufacturers to be more flexible in their manufacturing systems. Working in work cells could give a favorable response to that issue and collaborative robots (cobots) could be used doing simple and repetitive tasks complementing the activities of specialized workers, improving the speed and quality of products. The aim of this research project is the construction of a framework and a toolkit for the technical, ergonomic and economic evaluation of the incorporation of Cobots in work cells, thereby improving the work floor perfomance . The specific objectives are: (1) Develop a framework for conducting technical feasibility analyses to define whether a manual activity can be performed efficiently by a robot. (2) Create a framework to analyse whether the introduction of a Cobot can improve the physical conditions of the operator by reducing work-related biomechanical stress. (3) Create a framework to analyse the economic value added to the end customer thanks to the introduction of Cobots. (4) Develop a framework to carry out a cost / benefit analysis due to the introduction of Cobost in workstations and (5) validate the applicability of said reference frameworks and the toolkit in a case study in an argentine SME.
Project
The industrial environment has changed substantially in recent years due to the introduction of new concepts and technologies based on the 4th Industrial Revolution. It was referred to for the first time at the Hannover fair 2011, calling it: Industry 4.0. Artificial Intelligence, the storage and processing of data in the cloud and cyber-physical systems are the pillars of this transformation. The Digital Transformation applied to the industry, Industry 4.0, is requiring enormous changes, those related to organizational structures, among others. The great challenge for the future is the transfer of experiences from large companies to SMEs, since there is a lack of a framework to aim this objective. The current state of the company from an Industry 4.0 perspective, or degree of maturity, determines several necessary actions to move to the next level. There are different frameworks and models to measure the maturity of a company, but almost all of them are designed for large manufacturing industries. Our general objective is to adapt a model oriented to SMEs and that is applicable to both, industrial and service companies. To do this, the steps to follow in this framework are: (1) carry out an analysis of the current situation of the companies, determining their degree of maturity; (2) develop a study to map business models; (3) carry out the interviews and questionnaires necessary to adjust the model; (4) collect and analyse the data in order to identify the key factors of the requirements of SMEs; (5) develop the general reference framework for the development of I4.0 and (6) adapt it to industrial and service SMEs if necessary. Our hypothesis is that applying an adequate Maturity Model in SMEs, evaluating their current situation, allows an orderly and optimized transition on the way to Industry 4.0
