Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.), one of the main crops domesticated in the Andean highlands 1,000 of years ago, played an important role as a protein source. 35 germplasm accessions collected along the Northwest Argentina (NWA) region were studied using 22 microsatellite (SSR) markers. Results showed a great level of genetic diversity, differing...
The establishment of relationships among taxa is an essential step in the process of cataloging and evaluation of material conserved in a germplasm bank. There are several evaluation methods according to the types of the characters in the study. When the registration of the characters should be repeated in diverse environments and times, it is nece...
The effects of soil solarization and the growth promoter rhizobacteria,
Pseudomonas fluorescens P190 on tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum),
grown under greenhouse conditions, were evaluated in
2006 and 2007. A trial was performed according to a factorial
arrangement, using “solarization” and “pseudomonas” as factors
and “presence” and “absence” as le...

AbstractA set of 34 quinoa populations from the Northwest Argentina region was characterised using quantitative and qualitative phenotypic traits in an experiment conducted in the province of Jujuy, Argentina. A selection of quinoa descriptors from the Bioversity International (former IBPGR) list was applied, and data were analyzed using descriptiv...
Characterization of 31 native populations of maize conserved at the germplasm bank of the PNLA Pergamino Experimental Station, Argentina, was achieved by evaluating 10 quantitative attributes in two different environmental situations. The experimental design generated three-way or three-mode data, repeated observations of a set of attributes for a...
Fruit growth models are used, among other applications, to describe the evolution of fruit size throughout its development period. For forecasting, these models allow estimate in advance the size that will achieve the fruits at harvest. To have growth curves that provide unbiased estimate of the fruit size at harvest is necessary to design an appro...
The objective of the present work was to find the statistical model that best describes the pattern of fruit growth of sweet orange 'Valencia late' in the departments of Concepción (orchard 1) and General Paz (orchard 2), province of Corrientes, Argentina. In order to fit the growth curves, models of sigmoid type: Logistic, Gompertz, Weibull, Morga...
In this paper, a study of the relationship between genetic patterns, obtained by the combination of mtDNA-RFLP and PCR-amplified inter-δ sequence DNA polymorphism analysis, and relevant enological phenotypic data (fermentative power, specific productivity, volatile and total acidity) was carried out on Argentinean Saccharomyces cerevisiae isolates...
Characterizing entries in a germplasm bank by molecular markers and/or agronomic attributes is a common practice, but studies that simultaneously use molecular and agronomic traits are less frequent. Generalised Procrustes Analysis (GPA) was used to determine the relationships among 41 entries of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) via the simultaneous u...
The growing number of candidate varieties presented every year at each national Plant Variety Protection Office and their decreasing genetic variability forces strategies to be adopted that will reduce costs without losing rigour when deciding about the acceptance or rejection of a candidate variety. Molecular markers have been envisaged as a relia...
Projects
Project (1)
The study proposal includes the effect of biofumigation on the management of health (weeds, Fusarium), and its combination with the activity of antagonistic organisms (Trichodermas nativas) on onion productivity. The effectiveness of different wastes used as biofumigants will be considered. In turn, basic information on the presence of predatory mites and phytopathogenic nematodes in tomato, pepper, and strawberry crops was collected. The project is a continuation of two other successful projects. The objectives were to evaluate the effect of the application of residues of Brasicáceas species on the weed population.
Adjust the biofumigation technique in terms of dose and duration of treatment for weed population decline.
To evaluate the effect of biofumigation and native Trichoderma isolates in vitro, in the greenhouse and in the field on the Fusarium oxysporum population in soils grown for onion cultivation.
Record the presence of predatory mites in horticultural crops in the region.
Identify the species present.
Establish population dynamics in relation to crop phenology and its prey / s.
To determine the distribution, frequency and density of phytophagous nematodes in horticultural crops in the Alto Valle de Río Negro and Neuquén.
To update information on the spatial distribution of Meloidogyne spp., Nacobbus sp and Pratylenchus spp.
Determine at species level Meloidogyne and Pratylenchus.
