Hello everyone. I'm working on an egg catalog for a museum which is not updated so a lot of material has to be done from scratch.
Within this material and as part of the publication a table will be added where we’ll include information about the eggs one by one. Information like the common name, name of the species, measurements, information of the boxes where they are stored, an image of the egg mentioned, etc. will be included.
This is my question: How do you recommend me to add the photo? Some of the eggs are in a bad condition or in a state which makes it not very representative of the species in question (small holes, stains from careless handling, weak coloration, among others).
My main idea is editing the eggs in Photoshop; Coloring and fixing visual errors without altering them to an abnormal state and then adding those edited pictures to the catalog instead of the original pictures.
How should I add the nomenclature to the table? I’m thinking about mentioning when an egg is edited as an observation.
Do you know about any work that has a nomenclature mentioning if the image is edited and/or digitalized?
I’ll attach a sketch of the table; I’m open to suggestions.
Thanks

- Museological collections store a huge amount of data than when analyzed deliver important information about natural history commonly reflected in evolutionary studies . For this work we studied the avian egg collection of the National Museum of Natural History, which consists of about 2600 eggs. During the first half of 2015 those eggs were studied and reviewed, some of them were not identified so part of the study was to determine the species of which the eggs belonged.
