Birds use songs and calls as communicative signals. The production of bird vocalizations depends on stimuli that prompt or deter communications. The quartzite scree slopes (pedrizas) in the Mediterranean forests of southwestern Spain might potentially engender conflict situation for bird communication. These open areas entail enhanced sound transmi...

Hunting is one of the main uses associated with land which, in the current context, has a strong economic significance for rural areas. This work generates knowledge that can be useful for designing strategies that favour the economic dynamisation of rural areas, in a context of population loss and scarce economic diversification. In this sense and...

Human disturbance has been shown to provoke physiological and behavioral responses in birds, so nature-based tourism might reduce bird abundance and diversity. The negative consequences of human disturbance might be expected to be maximized during eventual massive events in highly protected areas such as national parks. In this study, the consequen...

Recreational hunting can have positive consequences on biodiversity conservation, but in many countries the number of hunters is declining. This downward trend threatens the sustainability of an important human activity that can be used as a tool for wildlife management and biodiversity conservation. On the other hand, in developed countries there...

Natural parks constitute an area of conservation of the biotic and abiotic environment which, in turn, can constitute a space of leisure and relaxation for its visitors. However, a negative impact on this type of ecosystem can be generated by the enjoyment of these environments. Road traffic is the main noise source in urban environments, but it ca...

Secondary sex traits involved in the courtship display of the male great bustard (Otis tarda) are analyzed in the light of condition-dependence theory. Heaviest males at the start of the mating period further gained about 30% in body mass. Both display performance and development of morphological traits involved are mainly determined by body mass....
