This research aims to develop a Web-based contract administration prototype system for JKR/PWD Standard Form of Contract, that is capable of: (1) enabling the issuance of instructions and subsequent correspondences between the Contract Administrator (CA) and the contractor online; (2) enabling the issuance, dissemination, access, filing, version control, and automatic archiving of drawings, and other documents through the internet; (3) enabling the management of claims using online platform; (4) utilising built-in intelligence to advise the users on the next course of action, and associated deadlines; and (5) providing the designated officials from JKR/PWD direct access to have a bird’s eye view on the status of various claims, instructions issued, etc. through the internet to promote transparency. The prototype will be developed using the latest web-based technology and hosted in the Web. It will bring impact on the way contracts are administered from one that is paper-based to paper-less, and introduce significant improvements to the processes.
