Over the years, I have learnt that the most common application materials for securing a Post-doc position are an updated CV that has been tailored for postdoc positions, a statement of research interests, and a strong cover letter that explains your interest in and fit for the position. Well-written recommendation letters from world-renowned mentors are also required.
Having done all these, why is it difficult for some African researchers (speaking for self and colleagues across the continent) to secure postdoctoral positions?
Responses from professors and senior career researchers will be greatly appreciated.

The analyses would be carried out using the SEPAL and SEPAL-CEO (SEPAL-Collect Earth Online) and the Google Earth Engine which are cloud-based platforms. The results would be useful for scientific research and ecological planning towards environmental conservation.
The project includes the regional assessment of Land use dynamics over West Africa. Mapping the land use and land cover across the West Africa using the Landsat (TM, ETM+ , OLI) images requires an overview of the Worldwide Reference System (WRS) notation for the data. This enables users to inquire about satellite imagery over any portion of the world by specifying a nominal scene center designated by PATH and ROW numbers. The WRS is applicable for the cataloging, referencing, and day-to-day acquisition and processing of the imagery transmitted from the Landsat sensors. Users would surely find this map useful.
Coronavirus disease (Covid-19), which was previously known as a novel coronavirus (nCoV), was first discovered in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Thus, this disease makes progress into a serious global emergency, leading to its declaration as an epidemic by the World Health Organization on February 11, 2020. Various data visuals and statistical tools have been proposed to show the near- real time data of the spread of the deadly virus destroying the world. In societies with constrained data architecture, modeling, and visualization COVID-19 become an extremely difficult endeavor to capture. Reported speech daily COVID-19 record of total infected cases and death across Nigeria were obtained from Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) data archive. The data were queried to assess the near-real time mapping of the disease spread and community transmission, from the index case recorded on February 27 to June 8, 2020, in the country. Forecast and Spatial analyses performed using Python scripting and ARIMA model in Power Bi and ESRI ArcGIS Pro Database schema provided the visual support system for timely and effective monitoring of the pandemic.
