Introduction
My research focuses on the multiscale modeling of cold-sprayed additively manufactured (CSAM) metal-ceramic composites/coatings to better understand the initiation and interaction of failure mechanisms of the material. This includes the generation of 3D representative volume elements (RVE) of the composite based on the SEM-driven microstructural characteristics and incorporating stress-state- and strain-rate-dependent constitutive material models via user-defined subroutines in Abaqus.

This study investigates the stress-state- and strain-rate-dependent behavior of CeramTec ALOTEC 98% alumina (Al2O3) ceramic through experimentally validated finite element (FE) modeling. As the constitutive material model, a rate-dependent viscosity-regularized phenomenological model (JH2-V model) was implemented through a VUMAT subroutine in ABAQU...

This study developed microstructure-based finite element (FE) models to investigate the behavior of cold-sprayed aluminum–alumina (Al-Al2O3) metal matrix composite (MMC) coatings subject to indentation and quasi-static compression loading. Based on microstructural features (i.e., particle weight fraction, particle size, and porosity) of the MMC coa...

This study developed microstructure-based finite element (FE) models to investigate the behavior of cold-sprayed aluminum-alumina (Al-Al2O3) metal matrix composite (MMCs) coatings subject to indentation and quasi-static compression. Based on microstructural features (i.e., particle weight fraction, particle size, and porosity) of the MMC coatings,...

This study aims to investigate the effect of the insertion of a corrugated composite into the typical balsa core sandwich structure under four-point bending (FPB). The proposed sandwich structure is composed of aluminum face sheets, balsa wood with an average density of 125 kg/m3 and E-glass woven fabric. For obtaining full-field strains and deflec...

Sandwich structures are commonly used in automotive, aerospace, and civil infrastructure applications due to their high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios. In the present work, the performance of sandwich structures with aluminum facings and two different types of core, including balsa wood core and hybrid corrugated composite/balsa...
